The last of a series of four portraits of DA member Avriah. As the title implies I used the soft pastel brushes in Corel Painter.
This is lovely.
Beautiful portrait. I'm impressed you did it in corel painter, It looks like a traditional work, I didn't think a corel software would allow you to do something this realistic.
Thank you! Painter's really good once you get into it and it's perhaps getting better with every upgrade. A lot it has to do with the backroom controls and settings, learning them can become tedious and frustrating(something that can easily be said about Photoshop too...) but the results are sometimes worth the time and effort!
Yes it's always a lot of work to get used to a new software. Also I'm using a very old version of Corel Draw so it might be the reason I relly don't like it !
Corel draw? that's a vector drawing program. If you go to Corel's official website you can download a full working version of Corel Painter 12 for a 1 month trial. It's really worth doing if your'e serious!
Thank you John...I really love this color and the composition
nice job, love the colors and the xpresion
Beautiful and delicate. The lighting is perfect and her eyes very expressive. Wonderful!!!
Thanks so much James, you were right about finding a muse, that's the fourth painting completed with more to come I think!!!
The texture of the pastel really stands out, did you use a particular canvas or paper type to draw on? I'm experimenting with pastels right now, but they look too smooth in comparison to your textured piece!
Hey thanks! I use the art canvas in preference to the pastel paper textures, they are to 'gritty' and as you mention, end up looking too smooth! try turning up the paper's contrast and brightness too! Hope this helps, good luck!
This is truly amazing Well done John
